May 2006

The Peace By Piece Quilter volunteers had another GREAT bee in April. We completed 34 quilts for Arizona Blankets 4 Kids.

That's like sending 34 special

out into the world.

The May 3 issue of the Arizona Republic Newspaper had an article about Peace By Piece Quilters in the "Giving Back" section of their newspaper. We are always looking for ways to get information about the Peace By Piece Quilters mission out to residents in our community. The article was written by freelance writer, Kristin Park. We thank Kristin for helping us get the word out to so many people. The result of her efforts has brought us the donation of much needed fabric and maybe we'll have some NEW Peace By Piece friends join us at our upcoming bee.

Now the Peace By Piece Quilters web page can be found by more people throughout our communities on the Neighborhood Link web site at This is a web site that provides information about many communities across the country. To find out if your local community is listed on Neighborhood Link visit their site and enter your zip code. You'll find their link on the Peace By Piece Quilters "Favorite Links" page or click on the link above . To help get the word out about Peace By Piece Quilters to your neighbors please add the Peace By Piece Quilters link on your Neighborhood community page or contact me with your zip code if you would like me to add it to your community page. The next Arizona Blankets 4 Kids event is the Las Palmas Grand Blanket Bee on June 24. This has become an annual event hosted by the quilters of Las Palmas Grand. They even provide a delicious lunch to all who attend. What a great way to spend the day.

Cutting Edge Quiltworks will be hosting a Getaway for AZB4K volunteers August 18-20. This is a weekend to treat yourself in the relaxing setting of Emmanuel Pines in Prescott. For more info visit the AZB4K web site at

If you missed last months bee you also missed some really good homemade Banana Bread brought by Terry Allen. Terry comes to all the Peace By Piece bees. She always arrives with her rotary cutter and ruler and spends the day cutting kits for us to sew. Last month she also brought along some of her "Fluffy Banana Bread". Everyone enjoyed it so much that I asked her to share her recipe with us. You'll find it as the latest addition to the Peace By Piece Quilters  Recipe page.

It's time for another Peace By Piece Quilters BEE. So gather up your quilting supplies and spend the day with us. We'll be making hugs to send out into the world while enjoying fun conversation with new friends. You'll go home with your sweet tooth satisfied, a smile on your face and maybe even a prize in your pocket.

I'll see ya there, Thursday. May 25.
